About the Opera House Players

Since 1966, community theater has been thriving in the Elkader area. With the support of many people from all over N.E. Iowa and S.W. Wisconsin, the Opera House Players have presented such blockbusters as Nunsense, Singin' In The Rain, Fiddler On The Roof, Forever Plaid, Man of LaMancha, Sound of Music, The King and I, Oliver, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Secret Garden, Into the Woods, Brigadoon, Peter Pan, Music Man, Annie and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. In the spring, the productions usually involve a somewhat smaller cast and crew, but are never short on entertainment! If you ever wanted to be an active part of theater, come join us. Don't be bashful. If you enjoy sewing, painting, acting, building, creating with make-up, playing a musical instrument, singing, drawing, typing, are willing to sell advertisements, write articles for the papers, do programs, or feel inclined to write and direct your very own show, you are right for community theater.
