Show Commentary

Well, the show is over, but the memories will live on for quite some time.   Let me be the first to announce that the long term plans call for these nuns to return in another Nunsense show Spring of 2005, so keep your eyes open!  We'll let you know when the plans become reality.

I had time to finally catch up a bit and update the site, so I thought I would share some of the memories with you in the form of a few pictures from the show.  Click here to share in the fun.

Yes boys and girls, we have a show, and what a show it is.  When this cast pulls it together, it tears the rest of us up.  I spent a good deal of the night laughing at things till I was sore.   So many wonderful facial expressions, gestures and details on stage that you are truely going to wish you could see it more than once.   Unfortunately, we don't have quite enough room to let everyone see it twice (unless you act fast and get that second ticket!).

There are some seats still available for all three shows, but once the word gets out after Friday night's opening, I'm afraid the remaining tickets won't last long.  Don't wait.  Get your tickets now and sit back and know that you were part of this wonderful holiday event.

Definitely a few details to go, but things are coming together very nicely for the opening of Nuncrackers this Friday night.   Don't forget that this is a three show weekend.  Opening Friday Night at 8pm, continuing Saturday at 2pm and 8pm.  There is no Sunday show, and only this one weekend.

Ticket sales continue to be brisk, and opening night is getting very full.   If you have the option, opt for the matinee or closing show on Saturday.   You'll get better seats, although in this beautifully restored Opera House, most every seat is comfortable and will let you both see and hear the show very well.

With this show, you'll want to hear every word.  Sections are touching, others so funny they'll have you doubled over with laughter.  As is true of all our shows, there is a lot of work going into making this a true OHP production.  It will make your spirit bright!

Neither Rain, nor Sleet nor dark of night.....  well, okay, we're not the post office, but even if the weather causes this cast to miss a rehearsal, you can bet they are on the ball.  Specifically, the balls of their feet!  Lots of dance and choreography has been worked on over the weekend with a long and difficult practice on Sunday making sure that we're going to be ready for you.

Only nine more days until the Nuncrackers Christmas special is "on the air" at the Elkader Opera House.  Ticket sales continue at a very brisk pace.  If we still had one of those mechanical ringers on the phone it certainly would have broken by now.  As it is, we're wondering when that chirping bird is going to join the early worm.

Moral of the story, don't wait, call now while there are still seats left and the phone still rings!   Have a Holly Jolly Nunsense Christmas.  It is indeed "the best time of the year"!

The nuns (and Father Virgil) were in true form last night as they rehearsed for the upcoming opening.  I took a few pictures, and had to share this one that I hope you will see in area papers this coming week.  Just in case your paper doesn't share, or decided not to print this one in color, here it is in all its glory:

I stopped by to set the mics and start working on sound for Nuncrackers and found a show that looks like to be almost too much fun.  Laughter abounds, as I'm sure it will when the audience shows up for this wonderful production.

Ticket sales are going very well, but don't start that rumor that we are getting close to selling out.  Plenty of great seats left to spread that holiday cheer Nunsense style.

I thought I'd snap a few pictures to bring you up to date on the show.  We begin some serious set work tomorrow.  I'll let you know how things are progressing.  Stay tuned, but don't wait.  Get your tickets now!

The Nuns (with Father Virgil, kids, and crew) are hard at it preparing for the December 19th opening of Nuncrackers.   I was finally able to stop in for a short time tonight to their rehearsal.  I should be back for the majority of the remaining rehearsals so I'll be able to now keep you up to date on their progress.

With The Governor's Son now part of OHP history, we can concentrate on this wonderfully hilarious Christmas show.  You have a special treat in store I can assure you.  We've decided on set modifications, and will begin work on those this Wednesday.  By Saturday we hope to be painting set for them.

I'll work to get some pictures of early rehearsals up.  Perhaps I can remember to bring my camera tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

It has begun!   The read-through for Nuncrackers was Sunday night, and it proved that Dan Goggin has NOT lost his touch.   The dialogue and lyrics had the cast and everyone else present laughing.  The songs are wonderful, and the harmonies will be beautiful as well, especially with the talented cast on tap for this show.

Ticket sales continue steady for this December show.   Don't wait until the last minute.  Be sure to get your tickets soon so you are assured the best seat.   Remember, we have now added an additional performance on Saturday with the Saturday Dec 20th 2pm Matinee.   Keep laughter on your Christmas list.   Certainly someone you love deserves a Christmas present Nuncrackers style!

The materials have arrived for our Christmas presentation of Nuncrackers.   I can't think of a more fitting way for you to increase your holiday joy than spending an evening with this wonderful show.  Plan now to relax your tension and increase your Ho Ho Ho's with a dose of humor.

Once again, the dedication of the OHP and all the associated volunteers continues to amaze and thrill everyone in the area.  And as far as OHP shows are concerned, that "area" continues to grow.  People from all over the midwest are making it part of their plans to attend these most enjoyable events.  Tickets are on sale now, so don't wait, make your plans to attend Nuncrackers December 19, 20, 2003.

Nuncrackers is the Nunsense Christmas Musical which brings back the five Nuns from Nunsense I & II. We are fortunate enough to have all five of the original Nuns from our original productions back to perform this show. The character of Sister Leo, is not a major part of "Nuncrackers", but Diane Fisk, who played that role originally, has agreed to also direct the show! The show does require a new male cast member in the part of Father Virgil (Sister Leo?s brother) and boys and girls to play the part of Mount St. Helen?s students.   Watch for additional information as we release the cast, and get ready for a Christmas special, Nunsense style!
